A Look Inside Lincoln Immigrant Benefits Processing Facility

The U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Nebraska Service Center is one of four in the nation.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Nebraska Service Center is one of four in the nation.

The center receives and decides on more than 950,000 applications and petitions for immigration benefits each year.

For Senior Immigration Officer J. Kennedy, working at the center is a sense of pride and a continuation of her family's story.

"I'm fulfilling the ultimate immigrants story in that I'm perpetuating my fathers dream," said Kennedy, "for his destiny when he came to the United States as a small child and for my grandparents who worked so hard to get us here."

Immigration Officer Armin Terzic says he is humbled to work at the center.

"I was refugee from Bosnia which was...torn by...war so we had to escape," said Terzic, "and so it's really a blessing and a privilege...to be able to... help people in regards to better their lives and their situations just like the way I needed it to be better."

The center employs more than 1,250 people.

This year the center was named one of Lincoln's Best Places to Work in 2015 as part of a survey by Woods & Aitken LLP, the Lincoln Journal Star, and the Lincoln Human Resource Management Association.
