Nebraska Kayaker Missing in Yellowstone River Near Forsyth

Rosebud County officials are searching for a 36-year-old kayaker who capsized on the Yellowstone River near Forsyth.

FORSYTH, Mont. (AP) -- Rosebud County officials are searching for a 36-year-old kayaker who capsized on the Yellowstone River near Forsyth.

Eleven boats and about 25 people were searching the river Monday for David Schwisow, of Lincoln, Nebraska, who was last seen Sunday trying to cross over the diversion dam at Forsyth.

Rosebud County Undersheriff Allen Fulton says the man is presumed drowned. His kayak was found intact Sunday afternoon and witnesses say Schwisow was not wearing a life preserver.

Fulton says this is the first apparent drowning in Rosebud County in more than 20 years.
