Police say during the first week of June, vandalism spiked when it came to car-related damages. Since then, there have been 22 calls made to them about tire slashing in the area.
The majority of the tire slashing is taking place in the Northwest part of town. So far police have made two arrests on the 22 cases. Officer Rodney Brown says many times the victim knows the person that slashed their tires
"This may have been targeted," Brown says, "this may just have been a random incedents where somebody felt like really taking out their anger or their stupidity out on others."
It's hard to prevent tire slashing from happening, but police say to reduce your risk you should move your car off of the streets and into a driveway or garage and keep your car locked.
